“Embroidered Gestures” is a series of works in pâte de verre. It aims to uncover the emotions that run through the body at the moment when hands brush against, touch, and manipulate old finely wrought fabrics, the awareness of the work necessary for its creation. Through the discovery of the embroidered stitches, the voyage back in time begins…
This chapter arose randomly from one of my first pate de verre sculptures. The traces of an antique embroidered sheet paired with an illuminated hand sparked my contemplation of these women and their daily gestures.
