Les langages silencieux
Made 2021-2022 during the Artist Residency at the Studio – MusVerre, Sars-Poteries, France
This chapter consists of a wall installation containing 1,000 glass thimbles made from molds of family thimbles.
To create it, I collected over a hundred thimbles, beginning with those of my grandmother and then as I met other women they entrusted me with their own heirlooms.
Inside each thimble is a red glass filament, symbolizing our ties to our elders. This thread is almost alive, shifting according to the effects of light and transparency, reflecting the variations found in family stories, similar and singular.
